Backcountry Boardin' in Teton National Forest
|
Only the few, the brave, and sometimes stupid venture out into the backcountry of Targhee National Forest's backcountry...is it worth the risk...you bet baby. Even though we only had about a foot of snow it didn't stop us from having a great time.

Avalanch Warning...Where? We didn't board through any snow deeper then 12 inches, and that was where it drifted. Good times in Targhee's backcountry.

After nearly 2 hours of hiking we finally got to Mary's Nipple in the 'Out of Bounds' area of Grand Targhee Ski Resort. It was early November and there still wasn't much snow but we had a great time, some first tracks, and some serious gouges in our boards.

Due to the lack of snow and our strong desire for first tracks our boards suffered. In the background is Mary's Nipple in Grand Targhee's backcountry and I am pointing at a HUGE chunk of board that was gouged out as I pounded turns in 12 inches of snow.

One of our backcountry expeditions took us to the Teton Pass area. We built a jump and busted our brains out on flat landings. If you're looking for early fresh tracks, or itch to get a lot of attention from passing cars headed to Jackson, WY, Teton Pass is the place.
